Schwieriger ist Od. 4, 174, καί κέ οἱ Ἄργεϊ νάσσα πόλιν καὶ δώματ' ἔτευξα, was nicht heißen kann »ich hätte ihm eine Stadt in Argos gebau't«, weil 176 folgt μίαν πόλιν ἐξαλαπάξας, sondern heißen müßte »ich hätte ihm eine Stadt mit seinen Leuten zu bevölkern gegeben«, wogegen Nitzsch in der Anm. zu der Stelle Zweifel erhebt. Das med. hat Hes. O. 641, νάσσατο ἄγχ' Ἐλικῶνος ὀϊζτρῇ ἐνὶ κώμῃ, er siedelte sich an; s. auch ἀποναίω; ὅτε νάσσεσθαι ἔμελλον γῆν, Ap. Rh. 2, 747, bewohnen. – 3) fließen (vgl. νάω, νέω); ναῖον δ' ὀρῷ ἄγγεα Od. 9, 222 (Andere lesen νᾶον), die Gefäße flossen über (waren voll, Schol. περιῤῥέοντο, ἐπεπλήρωντο, die Erkl. des Apoll. L. H. ἀντὶ τοῦ νεανικῶς, verbessert Mein. gut ἀντὶ τοῦ νέον ἰακῶς); ὃς ἔναιεν ἐν ἅλμῃ, er schwamm darin, Archestr. bei Ath. IV, 136 b. Auch An. Rh. 1, 1186 ist ναῖον v. l. für νᾶον, vgl. Schol. u. Callim. Dian. 224.
