ὀλβάχιον: τό, «κανοῦν Δεινόλοχος» Ἡσύχ. ὡσαύτως, ὀλβάχνιον, «πλεονάζουσιν δὲ τὸ β Συρακούσιοι· ὡς ἐπὶ τοῦ ὀλβάχνιον, ὀλάχνιον γάρ ἐστι τὸ ἀπαθὲς τὸ τὰς οὐλὰς ἔχον· σημαίνει δὲ τὸ κανοῦν ἐν ᾧ ἀπετίθεντο τὰς οὐλὰς» Ἐτυμ. Μέγ. 257. 53· προσέτι, ὄλεχον αὐτόθι 621. 20.

ὡς ἐπὶ τοῡ ὀλβάχνιον, ὀλάχνιον γάρ ἐστι τὸ ἀπαθὲς τὸ τὰς οὐλὰς ἔχον
σημαίνει δὲ τὸ κανοῡν (κάνιστρον) ἐν ᾧ ἀπετίθεντο τὰς οὐλάς».
[ΕΤΥΜΟΛ. Ο τ. ὀλβάχνιον συνδέεται με τη λ. ὀλαί / οὐλαί και έχει σύνθετο επίθημα σε -αχ- + -νιο- (πρβλ. πέταχνον), ενώ οι τ. ὀλβάχιον και ὀλβακήια είναι πιθ. εσφαλμένοι.
