   A, (ὄξος) vinegar-cruet, Nicostr.Com.9, Axionic.7, AJA31.351(pl.), PLond.2.402ii24 (ii B. C.); prop. of earthenware, Sch.Ar.Ra.1488 : hence ὀξὶς χαλκῆ γέγονε, instead of being κεραμεᾶ, Ar.Pl.812 ; also ὀξίδ' ἀργυρᾶν ἔχει Sopat.19 ; ὀξὶς ἢ φάλαγξ; (exact sense doubtful) Ar.V.1509.    2 a measure, at Athens the same as ὀξύβαφον, but at Cleonae, = κοτύλη, Id.Fr.688, Diph.96.    II = ὀξαλίς 11, Gal.11.631 (where ὀξύδα).    III in pl., acidities, Alex. Trall.Febr.I: sg., acidity, ib.6.

[Seite 351] ίδος, ἡ, kleines, gew. irdenes Gefäß zum Essig, acetabulum; Ar. Ran. 1436. 1449, der aber auch Plut. 812 sagt ὀξὶς δὲ πᾶσα καὶ λοπάδιον καὶ χύτρα χαλκῆ γέγονε. Vgl. auch Diphil. bei Ath. II, 67 a u. ὀξίδ' ἀργυρᾶν ἔχει VI, 230 e. – Bei Ar. Vesp. 1509 eine Art Krabben: τουτὶ τί ἦν τὸ προσέρπον, ὀξὶς ἢ φάλαγξ.
