   A holding fast, v.l.for ἕστωρ, Il.24.272, cf. EM383.25; epith. of Zeus, Sapph.157; of anchors, ἕκτορες πλημμυρίδος Lyc.100, cf. Luc.Lex.15: as Subst.,= κροκύφαντος, hair-net, Leon. ap. Hsch.; also pl.,= πάσσαλοι ἐν ῥυμῷ, Id.    II Hom. only as pr. n. Hector, the prop or stay of Troy, οἶος γὰρ ἐρύετο Ἴλιον Ἕκτωρ Il.6.403:—Adj.
