   A larynx or upper part of the windpipe, Arist. HA493a6; used in sounding the vowels, ib.535a32: but in Poets confused with φάρυγξ (gullet) (cf. Arist.HA535a29), E.Cyc.158; χωρεῖν κατὰ τοῦ λ. Pherecr.108.7, cf.
