ἀσκωλιασμός: ὁ, «ὁ δ’ ἀσκωλιασμὸς τοῦ ἑτέρου ποδὸς αἰωρουμένου κατὰ μόνου τοῦ ἑταίρου πηδᾶν ἐποίει, ὅπερ ἀσκωλιάζειν ὠνόμαζον, ἤτοι εἰς μῆκος ἡμιλλῶντο, ἢ ὁ μὲν ἐδίωκεν οὕτως, οἱ δ’ ὑπέφευγον ἐπ’ ἀμφοῖν θέοντες, ἕως τινὸς τῷ φερομένῳ ποδὶ ὁ διώκων δυνηθῇ τυχεῖν, ἢ καὶ πάντες ἐπήδων ἀριθμοῦντες τὰ πηδήματα· προσέκειτο γὰρ τῷ πλήθει τὸ νικᾶν = Πολυδ.
