η κατάλ. -έα της λ. απαντά και σε άλλα ονόματα φυτών, όπως: ἰτέα, πτελέα. Στον Θεόφραστο απαντά και τ. ἀκτέος. Από τον ελληνικό όρο ἀκτέα προήλθε το λατιν. acte, καθώς και το αρχ. γερμαν. atuh, at(t)ah.
