Λάκων: -ωνος
{Lákōn.}
Forms: f. Λάκαινα
Grammar: m.,
Meaning: ‘Lakonier, Lakedaimonier, -in’, N. der Bewohner Lakoniens (Lakedaimons), auch als Adj. (f. auch Λακωνίς) lakonisch, lakedaimonisch (seit Thgn., Pi.).
Composita : Einzelne Kompp. wie λακωνομανέω in lakonischer Weise verrückt sein, μισολάκων Lakonierhasser, Spartafeind (Ar.).
Derivative: Davon Λακωνικός lakonisch (ion. att.), Λακώνιον N. eines weiblichen Kleidungsstücks (Pap.); λακωνίζω ‘wie ein L. auftreten, gesinnt sein, sprechen’ (att.; Schwyzer 736) mit Λακωνισταί m. pl. ‘Parteigänger der L.’ (Fraenkel Nom. ag. 2, 71), -ισμός ‘L.-freundliches Benehmen’ (X. u. a.).
Etymology : Nach Dittenberger Herm. 41, 196 hypokoristisch für das offizielle Λακεδαιμόνιος, weshalb f. Λάκαινα (für Λακεδαιμονία) fast alleinherrschend ist; vgl. Chantraine Études 108m. A. 2. Krahe IF 57, 119 zieht den Namen als mutmaßlich illyrisch zu Lacinium Vorgebirge in Süditalien, Iuno Lacinia.
