• Etimología: De *°Hu̯es, que se encuentra en het. ḫueš- ‘vivir’; en ἀέσκω se encuentra una vocalización en /a/ de la laringal inicial; sin dicha vocalización cf. lat. Vesta, ai. vasati ‘habitar’, gót. wisan ‘ser’; c. otros vocalismos cf. ἰαύω, ἄωρος, etc. El sentido de ‘dormir’ se impone a través del de ‘pasar la noche’.
