ὁ, Irus, a name given by the suitors to the Ithacan beggar Arnaeus because he carried messages (cf. Ἶρις), Od.18.5 sq.: hence, later as Appellat., an Irus, i.e. a beggar, Lib.Or.18.140: pl., Ἶροι Luc.Nav.24.
