Etymology: The old scholars saw wrongly two simplicia: οὔνης κλέπτης, οὔνιος [εὖνις,] δρομεύς, κλέπτης H.; cf. Leumann Hom. Wörter 123. Better seem the glosses οὖνον [ὑγιές.] Κύπριοι δρόμον and οὔνει (for οὔνη?) δεῦρο, δράμε. Ἀρκάδες. Here further the Cypr. PN Φιλουνίου (gen.), cf. Φιλόδρομος. Ἐρι-ούνης, -ούνιος then the quick messenger of the gods? Thus (after Bergk Philol. 11, 384) with new argumentation Latte Glotta 34, 192ff; doubted by Masson, ICS 256 n. 1.- Several wrong proposals in Bq s. v.
