βου-: συχνὸν ἐν συνθέσ. πρὸς ἔκφρασιν καθ’ ὑπερβολὴν μεγάλου τινὸς ἢ τερατώδους πράγματος, π.χ. βούλιμος, βούπαις, βουγάιος, βουφάγος, βουχανδής. Ἀναμφιβόλως εἶναι τύπος τις τῆς λέξεως βοῦς, ἐπειδὴ εὑρίσκομεν σύνθετα καὶ ἐκ τοῦ ἵππος, ὡς τὰ ἀγγ. horse-laugh, horse-chesnut, horse-radish, κτλ.
