ὕφεαρ: -εαρος
{húphear}
Grammar: n.
Meaning: arkad. Name der Mistel, Viscum album (Thphr., H. [wo ὑφαίαρ]).
Etymology : Unerklärt. Nach Prellwitz und Bechtel Dial. 1, 395 aus kypr. ὑ- (s.d.) und *φέϝαρ, Verbalnomen zu ἔφυν, gernäß der Erklärung bei H.: τὸ ἐπιφυόμενον ταῖς πεύκαις καὶ ἐλάταις. Ganz fraglich, da die Hochstufe φευ-im Griech. sonst nicht mit Sicherheit nachgewiesen ist (vgl. zu συφεός). Nach Pisani Ist. Lomb. 73 : 2, 27 σ-lose Variante von σῦφαρ (s.d.).
