τό, Dinol.13 :—also ὀλβάχνιον, ὄλεχον, EM257.53,621.20 ; ὀλβακήϊα, Hsch. :—said to be Syracusan for ὀλάχνιον, and expld. as τὸ κανοῦν ἐν ᾧ ἀπετίθεντο τὰς οὐλάς. (β    A = ϝ.)

ὀλβάχιον: τό, «κανοῦν Δεινόλοχος» Ἡσύχ. ὡσαύτως, ὀλβάχνιον, «πλεονάζουσιν δὲ τὸ β Συρακούσιοι· ὡς ἐπὶ τοῦ ὀλβάχνιον, ὀλάχνιον γάρ ἐστι τὸ ἀπαθὲς τὸ τὰς οὐλὰς ἔχον· σημαίνει δὲ τὸ κανοῦν ἐν ᾧ ἀπετίθεντο τὰς οὐλὰς» Ἐτυμ. Μέγ. 257. 53· προσέτι, ὄλεχον αὐτόθι 621. 20.

(κατά τον Ησύχ.) «πλεονάζουσι δὲ τὸ β Συρακούσιοι
ὡς ἐπὶ τοῡ ὀλβάχνιον, ὀλάχνιον γάρ ἐστι τὸ ἀπαθὲς τὸ τὰς οὐλὰς ἔχον
σημαίνει δὲ τὸ κανοῡν (κάνιστρον) ἐν ᾧ ἀπετίθεντο τὰς οὐλάς».
[ΕΤΥΜΟΛ. Ο τ. ὀλβάχνιον συνδέεται με τη λ. ὀλαί / οὐλαί και έχει σύνθετο επίθημα σε -αχ- + -νιο- (πρβλ. πέταχνον), ενώ οι τ. ὀλβάχιον και ὀλβακήια είναι πιθ. εσφαλμένοι.
