   A = ἀρχαῖος, superannuated, doting, coined by Ar.Nu.398, cf. Plu.2.881a.

Nubb. 397 auf die von Her. 2, 2 erzählte Sage gehend, daß βέκκος in der ältesten Sprache u. bei den Phrygern das Brot bedeutet, u. daß die Arkader προσέληνοι heißen; also) uralt, altfränkisch, einfältig; Ar. a. a. O.; Plut. plac. phil. 1, 7 λῆρος. Die Erkl. mondsüchtig scheint falsch.
