   A mistake in music, false note, but in usage, metaph., fault, error, esp. in taste or judgement, Pl.Ap.22d; διὰ π. καὶ ἀμουσίαν Id.Lg.691a; faultiness in metre, etc., Plu.2.396d; ἀσέβεια ἡ περὶ θεοὺς π. Arist.VV1251a31 (hence in LXX, trespass, sin, Le.6.5, al.; εἰς πλημμέλειαν for a sin-offering, ib.5.18): freq. in pl., αἱ π. αἱ ἐν τοῖς πράγμασιν Isoc.8.56, etc.
