γ) «τά σκεπάζει ή τά κουκουλώνει σαν τη γάτα» — εξαφανίζει ενδείξεις ή πειστήρια ενοχής

[ΕΤΥΜΟΛ. Ο τ. γάτα < ιταλ. gatta < (μτγν. λατ.) catta και ο τ. κάττα < (μτγν. λατ.) catta. Ο τ. γάτος σχηματίστηκε είτε για να διακρίνει το αρσ. του γάτα ή πιθ. απ' ευθείας από μσν. λατ. gattus, μτγν. λατ. cattus. Η λ. γάτα αντικατέστησε στη Νέα Ελληνική τη λ. γαλή.
