Μένδης a nome and city of Egypt, near the eastern branch of the Nile, where it flows into lake Tanais. Αἰγυπτίαν Μένδητα, πὰρ κρημνὸν θάλασσας ἔσχατον Νείλου κέρας
   1 by the sea bank, an end of a branch of the Nile. This fragment is used by Aristeides to illustrate what he considers to be Pindar's ignorance of Egyptian geography fr. 201. 1.
