κερκέτης: -ου, ὁ, βάρος χρησιμεῦον ὅπως κρατῇ ἰσόρροπον τὸ πλοῖον κατὰ τὸν πλοῦν, «ὅτι ὁ δελφὶς ὁ καλούμενος κερκέτης ἔστι μηχάνημα σιδηροῦν ὃ ἐξαρτᾶται τῆς νεὼς ὅτανἄνεμος πρὸς τὸ ἀντέχειν» Παυσ. παρ’ Εὐσταθ. 1221. 28· ― καθ’ Ἡσύχ.: «τὸ μικρὸν πηδάλιον. ἀπὸ τῶν εὑρόντων».
