the goddess Athena, ἀγελείη, Ἀλαλκομενηίς, γλαυκῶπις, ἐρυσίπτολις, εὐπλόκαμος, ἠύκομος, λαοσσόος, ληῖτις, πολύβουλος; cf. Ἀτρυτώνη, Τριτογένεια, esp. Παλλάς. Fosters the arts, Od. 6.232, Od. 23.160, esp. domestic and feminine accomplishments, Il. 9.390, Od. 2.116; as a goddess of war, she protects cities (Ἀλαλκομενηίς), and is the especial patron of Odysseus.
