ο αριθμός που βρίσκεται μεταξύ τών ευθέων και τών αρτίων, που, κατά τους Πυθαγορείους, ήταν ο αριθμός 6 επειδή απείχε ίση απόσταση από τους αριθμούς 2 και 10, δηλαδή από τον πρώτο και τον τελευταίο άρτιο αριθμό στη δεκαδική κλίμακα.
