B. in der berühmten Stelle Iliad. 14, 500 ὁ δὲ φὴ κώδειαν ἀνασχών πέφραδέ τε Τρώεσσι καὶ εὐχόμενος [[ἔπος]] ηὔδα, er hob den Kopf wie eine [[κώδεια]] in die Höhe, <b class="b2">zeigte</b> ihn den Troern und sprach. Odyss. 1, 273 heißt μῦθον [[πέφραδε]] πᾶσι »lege Allen den Sachverhalt dar«, »zeige an«, nicht »sprich das Wort«. Aehnlich [[πέφραδε]] μῦθον oder μύθῳ Odyss. 8, 142, welchen Vers übrigens nach Schol l. Didym. Zenodot, Aristophanes Byz. und Aristarch nicht kannten. – Das medium heißt »<b class="b2">sich Etwas zeigen«, »sich Etwas anzeigen«, d. h. wahrnehmen, finden, erfinden, entdecken, ersinnen, überlegen, denken</b>. Man kann dies »wahrnehmen« bei Hom. wohl überall vom rein Geistigen verstehn; doch sind auch hier wieder einige Stellen, wo es vielleicht eben so gut vom Physischen verstanden werden kann, z. B. Prosa nicht gebräuchlich. – Das activ. hat bei Hom. nach Aristarchs Ansicht überall die Bedeutung »anzeigen«, διασημαίνειν, indicare, niemals die Bedeutung »sagen«, εἰπεῖν, und eben so wenig die Bedeutung des physischen »Zeigens«. welche denn doch wohl die ursprüngliche gewesen sein wird, und welche man versucht sein könnte in mehreren Homerischen Stellen anzunehmen, z. B. in der berühmten Stelle Iliad. 14, 500 ὁ δὲ φὴ κώδειαν ἀνασχών πέφραδέ τε Τρώεσσι καὶ εὐχόμενος ἔπος ηὔδα, er hob den Kopf wie eine κώδεια in die Höhe, zeigte ihn den Troern und sprach. Man vgl. z. B. Odyss. 7, 22. 29. 49, ὦ τέκος, οὐκ ἄν μοι δόμον ἀνέρος ἡγήσαιο Ἀλκινόου, τοιγὰρ ἐγώ τοι, ξεῖνε πάτερ, δόμον ὅν με κελεύεις δείξω, οὗτος δή τοι, ξεῖνε πάτερ, δόμος, ὅν με κελεύεις πεφραδέμεν; warum könnte hier πεφραδέμεν nicht das physische »zeigen« sein? – Daß φράζω bei Hom. niemals »sagen« heißt, ist unzweifelhaft. Odyss. 1, 273 heißt μῦθον πέφραδε πᾶσι »lege Allen den Sachverhalt dar«, »zeige an«, nicht »sprich das Wort«. Aehnlich πέφραδε μῦθον oder μύθῳ Odyss. 8, 142, welchen Vers übrigens nach Schol l. Didym. Zenodot, Aristophanes Byz. und Aristarch nicht kannten. – Das medium heißt »sich Etwas zeigen«, »sich Etwas anzeigen«, d. h. wahrnehmen, finden, erfinden, entdecken, ersinnen, überlegen, denken. Man kann dies »wahrnehmen« bei Hom. wohl überall vom rein Geistigen verstehn; doch sind auch hier wieder einige Stellen, wo es vielleicht eben so gut vom Physischen verstanden werden kann, z. B. Iliad. 10, 339 τὸν δὲ φράσατο προσιόντα Ὀδυσεύς. – Iliad. 1, 83 schrieb Zenodot σὺ δὲ φράσον εἴ με σαώσεις, »zeige mir an, ob du mich schützen wirst«, Aristarch dagegen σὺ δὲ φράσαι εἴ με σαώσεις, »überlege es dir, ob du mich schützen wirst«, s.
