καταύω: καταστρέφω, τὰν Μῶσαν καταύσεις Ἀλκμὰν (89) παρ᾿ Εὐστ., ἑρμηνεύοντι τὸ καταύσεις διὰ τοῦ ἀφανίσεις· πρβλ. Ἀριστοφ. Νεφ. 972 τὰς Μούσας ἀφανίζων· οὕτω παρ᾿ Ἡσυχ. «καθαῦσαι· ἀφανίσαι» καὶ «καταῦσαι· καταντλῆσαι» (ἐκ διορθώσεως τοῦ Λοβεκ.), καταδῦσαι.
