Meaning: κνημὶς ἁμάξης und περιώγανα· ἐπίσσωτρα. οἱ δὲ τὰς κνημίας αἵ περιπήγνυνται ταῖς ἁμάξαις H.
Etymology : Nach v. Blumenthal Hesychst. 7 (m. ausführl. Behandlung) als illyr.-hylleisch zu u̯eĝh- fahren (s. 2. ἔχω). Viel mehr zu ἄγω mit Dehnstufe wie in ἀγωγή (Frisk Indogerm. 17 f. = Kl. Schr. 47 f.).
