Meaning: ἄνεμοι. ἀντάς πνοάς H.
Origin: IE [Indo-European]X [probably] [81] *h₂ueh₁- blow
Etymology: To be corrected in ἀῆται, ἀήτας? Derivation from *h₂enh₁- breathe (s. ἄνεμος{{)} is impossible (would be *ἀνεται, or *ἀται (with α) < *h₂n̥h₁t-). S. ἀήτης s.v. ἄημι. }}

Frisk Etymology German

ἄνται: {ántai}
Meaning: ἄνεμοι. ἀντάς· πνοάς H.
Etymology : Wahrscheinlich mit Scaliger in ἀῆται, ἀήτας zu ändern. Sturtevant (s. Lang. 19, 308) verteidigt die Lesung der Hs. und betrachtet ἄνται als eine Ableitung von *an- atmen, s. ἄνεμος.
