[ΕΤΥΜΟΛ. Η λ. με την αρχ. σημ. < ίασις. Προήλθε πιθ. λόγω της ιατρικής χρήσεως του φυτού, που μάς είναι άγνωστη. Ως επιστημονικός όρος η λ. είναι αντιδάνεια (πρβλ. αγγλ. jasione «ιασιώνη»)].
