Schwyzer 285). Nach Forbes Glotta 36, 260f. aus *τελτι̯-ο- mit ο-Erweiterung einer hochstufigen ( !)τι -Ableitung; nicht überzeugend. — Für die alte Anknüpfung an aind. karṣū́- f. Furche noch Specht KZ 66, 23 f. und Pisani Athenaeum N. S. 18 (1940) 3 ff.; dazu noch Mayrhofer s.v. Andere Versuche von Charpentier KZ 40, 467 und Niedermann IF 26, 45f.
