Plb. 34.8.8, SIG982.15 (Pergam., ii B.C.), etc.; it was a soldier's daily pay, hence τετρωβόλου βίος a soldier's life, Paus.Gr.Fr.307; so in masc. τετρώβολος, of a common soldier, Men.Pk.203. 2 τετρώβολον, τό, weight of four obols, Dsc.4.159, Gal.12.628, etc.
