[ΕΤΥΜΟΛ. Η λ. γεροία (πιθ. να πρέπει να αναγνωριστεί Fεροῑα) προέρχεται από ένα κύριο όνομα Γέρως (< γέρων), ως υστερογενής ονοματικός σχηματισμός κατά τα επίθετα σε -οιος.
