English (LSJ)

νοσώδης, ἀσθενής, Hsch.;

   A = κολοβός, Theognost.Can.21; ἐάν τις τῶν λίθων ἔχει τι κροιόν IG22.244.63 (iv B. C.); ἐγκολλᾶν τῶν λίθων τὰ κροιά, Ἀρχ. Ἐφ. 1923.39. (Cf. Lith. kreĩvas 'crooked'.)

Greek Monolingual

κροιός (AM)
μσν.
κολοβός
αρχ.
(κατά τον Ησύχ.) «νοσώδης, ἀσθενής».
[ΕΤΥΜΟΛ. Αβέβαιης ετυμολ. Η λ. συνδέεται πιθ. με λιθουαν. kreivas, kraivas «καμπύλος, κυρτός» (πρβλ. κριός). Κατ' άλλη άποψη, συνδέεται με τον τ. κεραΐζω «φονεύω» ή, κατ' άλλους, με τη λ. κρούω, οπότε θα είχε τη σημ. «συντετριμμένος»].

Frisk Etymological English

Grammatical information: adj.
Meaning: acc. to H. = νοσώδης, ἀσθενής; after Theognost. Can. 21 = κολοβός; also Att. inscr. (IG 22, 244, 63 [IVa], Ἀρχ. Ἐφ. 1923,39), of building stones (λίθοι).
Origin: XX [etym. unknown]
Etymology: Several hypotheses: to Lith. kraĩvas oblique, curbed etc. (Solmsen IF 31,466f.; cf. on κριός); to κεραΐζω, Persson IF 35, 200f., certainly wrong; prob. best as cut off, broken off to κρούω (WP. 1,411 a. 481)?
