ὁ, Mt. Caucasus between the Euxine and Caspian, Hdt. 1.203 sq.: also a gen. Καυκάσιος (as if from Καύκασις) Id.3.97, cf. St.Byz. s. v.: τὸ Καυκάσιον ὄρος Hdt.1.104.—The region was Καυκασία, ἡ, and the inhabitants Καυκασῖται, Καυκασιανοί, St.Byz.
