schwierig, I) schwer zu tun etc.: difficilis. – arduus (eig. schwer zu ersteigen; dah. bildl. = schwer zu erreichen, auszuführen); auch verb. (= überaus schwierig) difficilis et arduus, difficilis atque arduus, arduus ac difficilis. – non facilis (nicht leicht). – impeditus (behindert, z.B. Terrain, locus: dah. auch beschwerlich, z.B. navigatio). – sehr sch., perdifficilis: die Lage Cäsars war sehr sch., erat in magnis Caesari difficultatibus res: die Sache ist dunkel u. sch. (zu erklären), res obscura est et difficiles habet explicatus: das Schwierigste dabei ist, daß etc., in quo nihil est difficilius, quam mit Infin.: es ist sch., zu etc., difficile est mit Infin. (vgl. »es ist schwer, zu etc.« unter »schwer no. II, 2, e«). – II) zum Ungehorsam geneigt: nutans et dubius (z.B. civitates). – sch. werden, imperium detrectare.
