κνημόω: ὁπλίζω μὲ περικνημῖδας, Ἀντιόχ. Πανδέκτ. 1207Α. ΙΙ. τὸ παθητ. ἔχει διάφορον σημασίαν παρ᾿ Ἡσυχ., ὅστις ἑρμηνεύει τὸ κνημοῦσθαι διὰ τοῦ φθείρεσθαι ἐν διαφόροις γλώσσαις αὐτοῦ· καὶ ἐπὶ ταύτης τῆς σημασίας μεταχειρίζεται τὴν λέξιν ὁ Ἑρμησιάναξ παρ᾿ Ἀθην. 598Α, ἐπὶ ἀτυχοῦς τινος ἐραστοῦ, πολλάκι... κνημωθεὶς κώμους εἶχε σὺν Ἑξαμύῃ. Ἐπὶ ταύτης τῆς ἐννοίας τὸ ῥῆμα προφανῶς συγγενεύει πρὸς τὰ κνάω, κνήθω.
