κνέφαλλον: τὸ, ἔριον ἀπορριφθὲν κατὰ τὴν κατεργασίαν τοῦ μαλλοῦ ἢ τῶν ὑφασμάτων, «ἀπομεινάρι», ἐκ τοιούτων κνεφάλλων ἐπληροῦντο στρωμάτια καὶ προσκεφάλαια, καὶ ἐντεῦθεν τὸ κνέφαλλον σημαίνει στρῶμαπροσκεφάλαιον, Εὐρ. Ἀποσπ. 677, Κρατῖν. ἐν «Μαλθακοῖς» 3, Εὔπολ. ἐν «Πόλεσιν» 36, Ἀριστοφ. Ἀποσπ. 84, κτλ.· κνάφαλλον, γνάφαλλον (ἅπερ, ἐν σχέσει πρὸς τὰ κνάπτω, γνάπτω, φαίνονται ὡς οἱ ὀρθότεροι τύποι) φέρονται συχνάκις ὡς διάφ. γραφαί, πρβλ.
