Mantoulidis Etymological

(=ντρέπομαι, σέβομαι). Πιθανόν ἀπό ρίζα αγ- ἴδια μέ τῆς λέξης ἅγιος (ἅζομαι). Ἀπό τή ρίζα αισδπροῆλθε τό ρῆμα. Παράγ. ἀπό ἴδια ρίζα: ἡ αἰδώς, αἴδεσις, αἰδέσιμος, αἰδεστέον, αἰδεστικός, αἰδεστός, αἰδεσιμώτατος (γιά ἱερεῖς), αἰδοῖος, αἰδήμων, αἰδημοσύνη, ἀναιδής, καί αἶσχος (αἶδχος), αἰσχρός, αἰσχύνω, αἰσχύνη, αἰσχροκερδής, ἀναίσχυντος, αἰσχυντηλός.
