ιδος, ἡ, sc. λίθος, die Perle, sowohl die eigentliche Seeperle, auch Perlmuschel, ὁ μαργαρίτης καλούμενος λίθος, Theophr. bei Ath. III.93b, und hernach das fem., z.B. πλείστην μαργαρῖτιν, welchesüberhaupt in dieser Stelle häufiger gebraucht ist, vgl. auch Ael. H.N. 10.14, 15.8, – als auch μαργαρίτης χερσαῖος, ein unbestimmter Edelstein, der den dreifachen Wert des reinsten Goldes hatte. – Auch ein Baum, = μαργέλλια, Arist. plant. 1.4.
