ὦ δυσπάλαιστον γῆρας, ὡς μισῶ σ' ἔχων, μισῶ δ' ὅσοι χρῄζουσιν ἐκτείνειν βίον, βρωτοῖσι καὶ ποτοῖσι καὶ μαγεύμασι παρεκτρέποντες ὀχετὸν ὥστε μὴ θανεῖν: οὓς χρῆν, ἐπειδὰν μηδὲν ὠφελῶσι γῆν, θανόντας ἔρρειν κἀκποδὼν εἶναι νέοις → Old age, resistless foe, how do I loathe your presence! λῇδος: Δωρ. λᾷδος, -εος, τό, εὐτελὲς τριβώνιονχλαμύδιον παλαιόν, κυρίως ὡς τὸ θέριστρον, εὐτελὲς ἱμάτιον θερινόν, Ἀλκμὰν 96· συνηθέστερον ἐν τοῖς ὑποκοριστ. τύποις, λῄδιον ἢ λῃδίον, τό, καὶ λῃδάριον, ἃ ἴδε. - Κοινῶς φέρεται λῆδος, λήδιον ἄνευ τοῦ ὑπογραφομένου ι, καὶ ὁ τελευταῖος τύπος ἀπαντᾷ ἐν δοκίμῳ τινὶ Ἀττ. ἐπιγραφῇ (Συλλ. Ἐπιγρ. 155. 45)· ἀλλὰ παρ’ Ἡσυχ. εὑρίσκομεν τοὺς τύπους λαῖδος, λῄδιον.
