-ῶ (=εἶμαι ἀνόητος, φλυαρῶ). Ἀπό τό λῆρος (=ἀνοησία, φλυαρία. Σάν ἐπίθ. ἀνόητος). Τό λῆρος ἔχει σχέση μέ τό λάλος λάσκω.
