(=πλατιά σανίδα ἐπάνω στήν ὁποία πλάθουν, πλαστήρι). Ἀπό τό ἐπίθ. πλατύς, πού παράγεται ἀπό τό πλάτος, ὅπου δές γιά περισσότερα παράγωγα. Κατ' ἄλλους ἀπό τό πλάσσω πού εἶναι ἠχοποίητη λέξη ἀπό τό «πλάτς πλάτς» πού ἀκούεται στό πλάσιμο μαλακῶν ὑλῶν, ὅπως πηλοῦ, κεριοῦ, ψωμιοῦ.
