2. ζωολ. χονδρό περίδερμα τών αποικιών τών καλυπτοβλαστικών υδροζώων το οποίο καλύπτει τη βάση τών υδράνθων και τα γονοφόρα.
[ΕΤΥΜΟΛ. < υδρ(ο)- + θήκη (πρβλ. βιβλιο-θήκη). Ως επιστημ. όρος της Νεοελληνικής η λ. είναι αντιδάνειο, πρβλ. γαλλ. hydrotheque].
