Keep, preserve: P. and V. σώζειν, διασώζειν, περιστέλλειν, φυλάσσειν, διαφυλάσσειν; see also defend. Cling to: P. and V. ἀντιλαμβάνεσθαι (gen.). Maintain (silence, etc.): P. and V. ἔχειν.
