Middle Liddell

θῠραυλέω, fut. -ήσω
to live in the open air, to camp out, Xen., etc.: in war, to keep the field, Arist.

Frisk Etymology German

θυραυλέω: {thurauléō}
Grammar: v.
Meaning: seinen Aufenthalt vor der Tür haben, im Freien leben, antichambrieren (att.)
Derivative: mit θυραυλία der Aufenthalt vor der Tür, im Freien, das Antichambrieren (Ti. Locr., Arist. usw.).
Etymology : Von dem Bahuvrihi θύραυλοι· τῶν ποιμένων οἱ ἀπόκοιτοι H., falls nicht direkt auf θύρα und αὐλή zu beziehen (vgl. Schwyzer 726). Das auslautende -α in θύρα ist durch Elision weggefallen (θυρ- somit nicht zum Konsonantstamm in θύρδα; vgl. Brugmann IF 17, 358 A.).
