II ὁ Χῖος (sc. βόλος), = κύων v1, the worst throw of the dice (cf. χιάς), i.e. the external face of the ἀστράγαλος (Ruf.Oss. 38), with the ace-dot, opp. Κῷος (q.v.), Χῖος παραστὰς Κῷον οὐκ ἐᾷ λέγειν Stratt.23, cf. Arist.Cael.292a29, AP7.422 (Leon.), Poll. 7.204, 205, Zen.4.74: hence prov., Χῖος πρὸς Κῷον = Chian to Coan ibid. (in Arist.HA499b29 χῖα is cj. for ἰσχία, κῷα for κῶλα).
2 οὐ Χῖος, ἀλλὰ Κεῖος = not a roguish Chian, but an honest Ceian, not a Chian, but a Ceian, v. Κέως.
III Χία, ἡ, = μαστίχη, Glossaria.
