subj. χαζώμε(ς)θ(α), imp. χάζεο, ipf. (ἐ)χάζετ(ο), -οντ(ο), fut. χάσσονται, aor. χάσσατ(ο), inf. -ασθαι, part. -άμενος, aor. red. part. κεκαδών, mid. κεκάδοντο: give way, fall back, retire before some one, ἄψ, ὀπίσω, and w. ὑπό, Il. 4.497; φράζεο καὶ χάζεο, ‘bethink and shrink,” Il. 5.440; then with gen., give over, rest from, μάχης, δουρός, Ο , Il. 11.539. Here belongs the causative κεκαδών, depriving, Il. 11.334, Od. 21.153, 170, unless this form should be referred to κήδω.
