So heißen auch ähnliche farbige Kreise um den Mond u. die Lichtflamme, Arist. meteorol. 3, 4; um die Augen des Pfauenschwanzes, Luc. dom. 11; bes. auch der farbige Kreis im Auge, die Iris, Medic. – 2) die Pflanze Iris, eine Lilienart, Theophr. u. A., die nach Eust. ἰρίς betont werden soll, wie auch Schol. Nic.
