Στην αττική διάλεκτο διαμορφώθηκε η κλίση της λ. αναλογικά προς τα οδοντικόληκτα γέλως, -ωτος, έρως, -ωτος. Ο νεοελλ. τ. ίδρωτας ερμηνεύεται αναλογικά προς άλλα τριτόκλιτα ουσ. που μεταπλάστηκαν σε -ας κατά τα ουσ. της α' κλίσεως
