Vanicek, Fremdwörter, under the word)), a sandal, a sole made of wood or leather, covering the bottom of the foot and bound on with thongs: Herodotus, Josephus, Diodorus, Aelian, Herodian, others; for נַעַל in Sept. and Josephus σανδάλιον and ὑπόδημα are used indiscriminately; cf.
