French (Bailly abrégé)

βινῶ :
τινα avoir commerce avec.
Étymologie: DELG terme visiblement populaire et vulgaire.

Dutch (Woordenboekgrieks.nl)

Russian (Dvoretsky)

βῑνέω: тж. med. совокупляться (Arph., Anth.; τινα Arph., Luc.).

Frisk Etymological English

Grammatical information: v.
Meaning: coïre, futuere, τὸ βίᾳ μίγνυσθαι (Ar., Sol. ap. H.).
Other forms: βενέω Olympia Va· Ipf. βινεσκόμην, fut. βινήσω .
Derivatives: Desid. βινητιάω (Ar.), as if from *βινητής; cf. ὠνητιάω: ὠνητής, ὠνέομαι.
Origin: XX [etym. unknown]
Etymology: Vulgar word. Often combined with βία violence, but DELG points out that there is no evidence for violence. One also compared ζάει βινεῖ H.; how? Skt. jinā́ti overpower, suppress nor ptc. jī-na- (only gramm.) = *βινός convince. Not with Palmer, Minos 5 (1957) 62 to δινέω, which does not fit semantically. De Lamberterie, CEG 1, suggests, because of the variant βενέω, *gʷen- woman with ι from κινέω; but we expect *δεν- (cf. μνάομαι).

Middle Liddell

coire, of illicit intercourse, Ar.

Greek Monotonic

βῑνέω: coïre, συνευρίσκομαι· λέγεται για παράνομη συνεύρεση, σε Αριστοφ.

Greek (Liddell-Scott)

βῑνέω: συνέρχομαι, συνευρίσκομαι ἐπὶ παρανόμου συνουσίας, ἀντίθ. τῷ ὀπυίω, Ἀριστοφ. Βατρ. 740· μ. αἰτ. προσώπ., ὁ αὐτ. Ὄρν. 563, κτλ. – Μέσ., Ἰων. παρατατ. βινεσκόμην, ὁ αὐτ. Ἱππ. 1242: – Παθ., ἐπὶ γυναικός, Εὔπολ. ἐν Ἀδήλ. 2, Φιλέταιρ. Κυν. 1.

Frisk Etymology German

βινέω: {bīnéō}
Forms: Ipf. βινεσκόμην, Fut. βινήσω
Grammar: v.
Meaning: coïre, futuere, τὸ βίᾳ μίγνυσθαι (Kom., Sol. ap. H.).
Derivative: Davon das desiderative βινητιάω (Ar., Luk.), wie von *βινητής; vgl.
