(buf) kaleřuf boves calidos (like candidus, nitidus). To the same semantic sphere also Lith. kalýbas, -ývas white-necked, of dogs (with short vowel); further OIr. caile stain (IE. *kali̯o-). Semantically further off is Lat. cālīgō fog, darkness, which Ernout-Meillet keep away. (Away remain Skt. kāla- (blue)black, kalmaṣa- spot, soil (prob. LW [loanword], s. Mayrhofer KEWA s. vv.).
