δή: μόριον ἐν χρήσει συνήθως, ὅπως δώσῃ πλειοτέραν ἀκρίβειαν, σαφήνειαν ἢ βεβαιότητα εἰς τὴν λέξιν ἢ τὰς λέξεις μεθ᾽ ὧν εἶναι ἐσχετισμένον. Πιθανῶς εἶναι συντετμημένος τύπου τοῦ ἤδη, Λατ. jam. Συνήθως ἑρμηνεύεται διὰ τοῦ: τώρα, βεβαίως, τῇ ἀληθείᾳ, τῷ ὄντι, πράγματι· ἀλλ᾽ οὐδεμία λέξις δύναται μόνη νὰ ἐκφράσῃ τὸ δὴ εἰς πάσας τὰς περιστάσεις καὶ χρήσεις· ἡ δύναμις αὐτοῦ πρέπει πολλάκις νὰ ἀποδίδηται διὰ τῆς μετ᾽ ἐμφάσεως προφορᾶς ἢ διὰ περιφράσεων διαφόρων. Ὡς καὶ ἄλλα μορια τοῦ αὐτοῦ εἴδους, το δὴ ἀκολουθεῖ εἰς τὴν λέξιν ἢ τὰς λέξεις εἰς ἃς ἀναφέρεται. Ἀλλὰ παρ' Ἐπ. καὶ λυρικοῖς ποιηταῖς τὰ δή γάρ, δή τοτε, δή πάμπαν (Ἰλ. Τ. 342) κεῖνται ἐν ἀρχῇ τῶν προτάσεων. Ι. χρῆσις τοῦ δὴ μεθ᾽ ἁπλῶν λέξεων: 1) κατὰ τὸ πλεῖστον μετὰ τῶν ἐπιθέτων, οἶος δή, μόνος δή, ὅλως διόλου μόνος, Ὀδ.
